Wipro, an Indian multinational corporation that provides IT, consulting & business process services, has recently announced its partnership with IP Infusion, a frontrunner in disaggregated network solutions. Under this alliance, the two firms would work on developing new offerings that support quicker innovations in optical and IP networks.
Generally, disaggregation includes transitioning network constructs from monolithic/proprietary hardware and software to an ecosystem of decoupled and open components.
These are then merged to form a comprehensive switching and routing device that can perform any network function. The method aids in the acceleration of innovation, the reduction of overheads, and the simplification of network management in 5G networks.
Wipro and IP Infusion will work together to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs), and communication service providers (CSPs) run their businesses more efficiently while lowering CapEx and OpEx.
With the support of these combined solutions, which will help improve network programmability and automation, customers will be able to advance their rapid automation journey and meet time-to-market goals.
The alliance will also focus on delivering market-ready network disaggregation solutions based on Wipro's merchant based in silicon, OCP-compliant hardware architecture, and IP Infusion's top network functioning system protocol stacks.
Wipro will offer service providers with system integration, implementation, network design, and testing capabilities based on Wipro and IP Infusion's disaggregated networking solutions.
The unified solution offerings include Provider Edge Routers (PE), Fronthaul Gateway (FHGW), Open Optical and packet transport, Distributed Cell Site Gateways (DCSG), OpenSoftHaul and Data Center network solutions.
Wipro’s Vice President and Global Head for Comms & Tech, iDEAS, T V Sriram, claims that Wipro has made significant investments in areas including hardware design skills, test facilities, and merchant silicon-based software solutions.
Meanwhile, following the announcement of its partnership, Wipro's stock dropped 0.45 % to Rs 600.95.
