T-Mobile debuts rideshare advertising with Octopus Interactive acquisition

T-Mobile US, a US-based wireless network operator, partly owned by German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, has announced successful acquisition of Octopus Interactive, a major network of rideshare screens throughout the United States.

According to a press release, the latest acquisition move signifies the next step for Marketing Solutions, T-Mobile’s fastest-growing advertising tech business and in expanding its advertising offerings for marketers.

Octopus Interactive supports brands to reach audiences via video ads presented on screens inside rideshare vehicles, giving marketers a new way to reach customers. Octopus’s rideshare network empowers the brands to implement wide-ranging geotargeted campaigns across a broad range of highly engaged consumers.

Additionally, apart from the rideshare network, this acquisition will connect T-Mobile’s Marketing Solutions group with big brands, like current Octopus clients Fox Entertainment, Philo, Audible and many more.

Matt Stein, Head of Brand & Creative Strategy at Philo, quoted that Octopus enables them to enlighten the library of ironic media content and drive mindfulness amongst a newer and tech-savvy demographic. Moreover, the company has seen engaging rates of over 3.5%, and QR codes convert tremendously well given the captive rideshare environment.

Furthermore, the devices used by drivers in the rideshare network will be driven by T-Mobile’s network, linking thousands of drivers across the country to the Un-carrier experience.

Mike Peralta, VP and GM of Marketing Solutions, a division of T-Mobile, said that this move would help the firm expand its toolkit for marketers, sufficing the needs of advertisers and authorizing brands to connect better with consumers, beyond linear and traditional digital channels. The firm is committed to revolutionizing the ad tech space.

Cherian Thomas, Co-Founder and CEO of Octopus Interactive, said that they are pleased to join the T-Mobile team on their long-term mission of delivering better results for marketers and offering better experiences for their consumers. The rideshare technology of Octopus will open doors of massive opportunities for brands working with Marketing Solutions.
