Real-Time Innovations (RTI), one of the leading software framework firms for autonomous systems, has announced that it has joined VRARA (VR/AR Association) to extend the use of RTI Connext® DDS with improved gaming engine connectivity capabilities across all markets.
By combining RTI Connext with VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) settings, these systems could offer real-time data in various applications, including training, autonomous ground, air and sea systems management, and critical infrastructure management.
RTI Connext is a parent networking platform designed for high-performance visualization, distributed simulation, and gaming applications. It allows network designers to fine-tune data streams and improve latency and throughput to boost performance and scalability.
Connext upends standard workplace visualization by offering a rich content environment for viewing real-time information from networked systems worldwide. It can incorporate real-time data into a gaming engine and vice versa, providing a more realistic and immersive simulation experience.
Bob Leigh, Senior Market Development Director at RTI, commented, “Connext provides gaming and physics engines with live, real-time data, allowing for a more realistic experience. The Connext integration enhances user experience by simulating and matching user's physical characteristics.
In addition, autonomous systems can be managed in a dynamic virtual environment with real-time data of the state of the systems. They are excited to be a part of the VRARA to help the sector prosper in all markets, Mr. Leigh added.
RTI recently unveiled gaming engine features, along with free Case & Code samples, to help speed up RTI Connext integration with Unity® and Epic Games' Unreal game engines.
