Jio and Google Cloud collaborate to optimize 5G technology in India

Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio), a telecommunications company, and Google Cloud Platform have reportedly entered a comprehensive, long-term strategic partnership deal. This business collaboration has been inked in an effort to deploy the 5G technology in the enterprise & consumer segments across India.

Furthermore, Reliance is expected to leverage the scalable infrastructures of Google Cloud to help the retail business achieve high operational efficiency, scale & modernize for growth, as well as provide enhanced experiences and performances to the customers.

The latest partnership with Google Cloud will further the mission of Jio to digitize India with better and faster connectivity and deliver a complete end-to-end cloud offering to ensure automated lifecycle management of its 5G networks and services. The combination of the deep expertise and innovation of this cloud computing service with the telco-specific capabilities for performance, security, and resilience will aid in meeting the escalating 5G demand from customers. This integration will also enable Jio to operate as one of the leading network service providers in the nation.

Google Cloud’s Edge Cloud infrastructure will offer a rapidly scalable and high-performing platform to support Jio, which in turn, will empower subscribers in using 5G network. Moreover, they will bring the 5G edge computing solution portfolio to substantially address the real business challenges. The telecom company is further intending to explore new services across the video entertainment, education, healthcare, and gaming sectors, which will adopt its 5G network & software and Google Cloud's expertise in data analytics, AI/ML, and other cloud-native technologies.

According to Reliance Industries Limited’s Managing Director & Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, the deployment of cloud solutions is the key target behind its recent collaboration with Google. The telecom company is planning to use the cutting-edge technologies of Google Cloud to power the 5G solutions and meet the internal needs of its key businesses such as JioHealth, JioSaavn, JioMart, and Reliance Retail.
