Netflix enters fitness content as it starts Nike Training Club classes

Netflix, the popular American OTT streaming service and production company, has reportedly branched out into the fitness content industry as it officially announces that it will soon start showing Nike Training Club classes.

In two different batches, the firm will stream 30 hours of fitness sessions in total. The sessions will be available in different languages for all Netflix subscribers.

On December 30, the first round of fitness sessions will start, and the second round will follow in 2023. The first batch will consist of 45 sessions in all, and it will feature the following classes: Two Weeks to a Stronger Core, Feel-Good Fitness, as well as Kickstart Fitness with the Basics. Subscribers will have to search ‘Nike’ to get the sessions after the classes are launched.

This recent move by Netflix indicates yet another way in which the streaming platform is expanding outside its core competency of TV dramas and series. With the introduction of Netflix Games, the corporation has recently entered the gaming industry. As the streaming company starts experimenting with fitness programs, users are currently witnessing another deviation from its primary business.

Given that many people will shortly make exercising their New Year's resolution, the timing of the launch is probably not a coincidence either. Given that Netflix currently has a large audience, the company may succeed in persuading users to test out fitness content right on the website.

Notably, this isn't Netflix's first venture into health-related content; the streaming service featured Headspace's mindfulness and meditation program last year.

To compete with services like Apple Fitness+ and Peloton, Netflix may opt to add new fitness content to its site based on the launch of the show. Besides, it may even decide to create its own fitness content if the firm can persuade enough individuals that it is a credible option for fitness.
