Meta partners with CBSE to foster entrepreneurial spirit in India

Addressing the Fuel for India 2021 event, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and Founder of Meta Platforms, revealed partnership with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to offer opportunity to encourage entrepreneurship in India.

Zuckerberg claims it will facilitate introduction of entrepreneurial tools to Metaverse as well as training to the country’s education system.

As a part of the new tie up, Meta will conduct training sessions based on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) for 1 million teachers along with more than 10 million students over the coming three years.

Notably, Meta Platforms Inc., will offer a robust curriculum comprising of digital safety as well as online well being along with virtual reality and augmented reality. Under the partnership, CBSE will provide its website to make these courses available.

In a discussion with Vishal Shah, Vice President of Metaverse, Zuckerberg stated that Meta Platforms is investing in other emerging spaces such as education and commerce with Unacademy and Meesho, embarking crucial steppingstones for the company’s future.

He quoted that Meta is pursuing collaborations in such fields as the platform ramps up development of primary technologies, social platforms and creative tools fundamental to accomplish the foreseen success of metaverse.

The Fuel for India 2021 event also involved participants including Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State of Electronics and Information technology, Facebook India managing director, Ajit Mohan and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO among others.

According to Chandrasekhar, the Indian government is working on a more solidified space to ensure that the internet is accessible, available, safe and trusted.

Reportedly, FB for Education’s first phase was initiated in June 2020 with a view of establishing a safe and reliable online environment and learning experience to prepare students as well as teachers for the future of work.

Nearly 500,000 students reflected interest in online well-being and digital safety while over 14,000 teachers applied for AR training.
