Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a renowned semiconductor developer, have reportedly announced a new multi-year partnership agreement that has combined the two firms’ passion of for high performance, beginning from the Formula 1 season 2020.
The logo of AMD would be placed on both sides of the cockpit of the 2020 Formula One car of Mercedes-AMG, on the race suits of drivers, on trackside infrastructure, and the team clothing as well. The Team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team is looking to use the commercial solutions of AMD, which includes the AMD Ryzen Pro, and AMD EPYC processors, to improve the team’s several workstreams.
John Taylor, CMO, AMD, stated that the company is thrilled to be joining forces with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, a team utilizing advanced technology and with whom the company is a shared spirit in delivering astonishing innovation as well as performance to the racetrack from the factory.
Toto Wolff, CEO, Team Principal, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, stated that innovation is at the heart of F1, and the company would always push and try the technological boundaries in order to hunt for performance.
Wolff further stated that the company is thrilled to have AMD joining the team as a partner and the company is looking forward to exploring sophisticated solutions so as to unlock unexploited performance potential.
The Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team is a part of F1 Team of Mercedes-Benz, participating in the FIA Formula One World Championship, the zenith of world motorsport and the biggest annual sporting series across the world.
The headquarters are two topnotch campuses located in UK, the team develops, designs, manufactures as well as races the race cars and Hybrid Power Units that are driven by Lewis Hamilton, a six-time Formula One World Champion, and Valtteri Bottas, his race winning teammate.
