LightForce bags $50Mn to offer new 3D Printed Orthodontics solutions
Renowned orthodontic solutions provider, LightForce Orthodontics has reportedly secured $50 million in a Series C financing round led by Kleiner Perkins along with participates including Tyche Partners, AM Ventures and Matrix Partners.
Sources claim that the raised funding would allow LightForce to provide training as well as education to orthodontists to assist them in ramping up the operations and go-to-market efforts while maximizing the technology for their patients.
The investment comes in the wake of the 500% revenue growth rate posted by LightForce in 2020 in which the company introduced two new products and expanded its team by 300% year over year. The firm also came up with additional orthodontic advancements, including the Light Bracket, its new line of translucent braces, during the last year.
Following the transaction, orthodontic practices across the country would work with LightForce for combining the digital benefits stemming from aligner therapy with the tooth-moving efficiency as well as quality outcomes witnessed with braces.
For the uninitiated, LightForce’s 3D printing technology provides complete and infinite personalization to every patient. The company can 3D print brackets that match the unique tooth morphology of each of the patient with customization that is mostly unavailable to patients having traditional braces.
Scalable and efficient treatments, patient-specific prescriptions and digitized fixed appliances are some key advantages offered by digital customization with 3D printing to doctors and patients deploying LightForce.
CEO and Co-founder of LightForce, Dr. Alfred Griffin III, DMD, PhD, MMSc, stated that LightForce was introduced to offer U.S-made, fully customized treatment options to orthodontists interested in providing contemporary braces to their patients.
He mentioned that the investment coming from Kleiner Perkins would allow them to continue developing mass-customized braces to allow orthodontists to offer personalized patient experiences in an industry with no transformation in the use of braces during the last 25 years.
