Lenovo launches new ThinkSystem SR635 & SR655 single-socket servers
The new servers will offer businesses with performance of a dual-socket server at the price of a single-socket.
Chinese multinational conglomerate, Lenovo has recently revealed its new ThinkSystem SR655 and SR635 server platforms, two of the most powerful single-socket servers currently present in the market which will be powered by next-generation AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series processors.
Sources cite that the new servers will offer businesses with the performance of a dual-socket server at the price of a single-socket, thus offering a much cost-effective alternative. These servers were specifically developed to handle users’ evolving, data-intensive workloads like software-defined storage, video security and network intelligence, as well as support for edge and virtualized environments.
Speaking on the announcement, Doug Fisher, Senior Vice President of Business Units and Chief Operating Officer, Lenovo Data Center Group, said that the company’s never-quenching thirst for innovating smart technologies for their customers, played a key role in making it one of the fastest growing data center OEMs across the globe.
He added; the company is delighted to expand their AMD partnership with new, fully optimize solutions to help their users address critical and data-intensive workloads, allowing them to achieve more while providing the best end-to-end security.
Reportedly, Lenovo’s latest ThinkSystem SR655 and SR635 server platforms enable customers to run more jobs on fewer servers as well as saves up to 73 percent on potential software licensing, allowing users to fast-track their workloads more proficiently. Additionally, users can enjoy a discount in total cost of ownership (TCO) by 46 percent.
Furthermore, Lenovo ThinkSystem SR655 and SR635 offers higher core density and lower latency, in conjunction with the largest NVMe drive capacity of single-socket server available in the market.
In addition to that, the new 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ processor-based systems offers an opportunity for allowing additional hyperconverged infrastructure solutions, thus enabling Lenovo to offer its consumers vSAN and other specialized nodes and upcoming ThinkAgile software-defined applications for management, simple deployment and scalability.
