Indian EV startup eBikeGo expands fleet to 2,100, hires 70 employees

The company is aiming for achieving a 2% share in the Indian electric two-wheeler market, with plans to deploy 200,000 e-scooters across 100 cities

eBikeGo, an electric vehicle startup, has recently revealed that it has increased its fleet of electric scooters from 300 to 2,100 ever since the coronavirus outbreak began. The fleet, which was previously covering up to 25,000 kilometers per day, can now travel 1,20,000 kilometers per day, indicating a rise in demand for last-mile deliveries.

As per sources, eBikeGo’s revenue has increased from INR 15 lakhs to INR 2.5 crores. Moreover, the firm has hired 70 additional individuals for leadership and management positions.

Earlier this year, the company initiated recycling EV batteries to reduce e-waste, which has become a massive concern in modern times. The company recycles lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles as part of this strategy. It claims that more than 99 percent of the lithium in discarded batteries can be recycled.

This lithium can be used to build new batteries, while the used batteries can be reused in solar plants or other things. The firm also claims to recycle lead-acid batteries, which now hold the significant share of the Indian electric vehicle market.

According to eBikeGo's Founder and CEO, Irfan Khan, the company's rising demand in online delivery has expanded its capacity in terms of fleet and workforce during this time. Mr. Khan stated that their organization is improving technology, infrastructure, and current facilities to make green transportation more accessible. The firm seeks to achieve 10,000 electric scooters in its fleet within the next fiscal year.

eBikeGo is aiming for a 2% total market share in the Indian electric two-wheeler industry, with 2 lakh e-scooters on the roads of approximately 100 cities. Some of the places where its e-scooters are currently available are Indore, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Bengaluru.
