Google’s business intelligence platform Looker collabs with Tableau

Google Cloud Platform has recently revealed that its business intelligence platform, Looker has been integrated with Tableau, empowering users of both the platforms to benefit from the different features offered by each.

For starters, Google Cloud acquired California-based Looker for $2.6 billion in June 2019. Since its commencement in 2012, Looker has developed a platform focused on application developers, delivering data through APIs, data models, and embedded applications and empowering organizations to go beyond outdated reports.

Just recently, the vendor introduced Looker 21 which includes a new set tools for developers generally available titled Extension Framework that included a kit of software development for aiding developers to make applications rooted in either Looker or an external website.

Tableau, on the other side, was founded in 2003 and was acquired by Salesforce for $15.7 billion just after days Looker was acquired by Google Cloud.

The company was at the front of the self-service analytics movement, allowing business users to interact with data via visualizations rather than relying on IT teams to create reports.

Tableau has introduced enhanced analytics capabilities such as natural language processing as business intelligence has progressed beyond data visualizations. It also has added machine learning capabilities thanks to connections with Salesforce's Einstein Analytics platform.

The joint users of Looker and Tableau can now amalgamate the best features of both.

CEO of Google Cloud, Thomas Kurian, said during the Google Could Next '21 that they are pleased to publicize the inclusion of Tableau, a leader in data visualization, with Looker.

Tableau users will soon be able to use Looker's semantic model, empowering new levels of data governance and access to data.

Tableau's visualization skills, on the other hand, will help Looker users, allowing them to comprehend their data better.
