DISH Network inks Multi-Year Carriage Agreement with Fox Corp.

Sports channels are one of the few types of TV broadcasts that people prefer live. No channel is more vital to sports fans than a regional sports network that views their favorite teams. However, a dispute emerged recently between Dish Network and Fox Sports which led viewers to miss access to the Thursday Night Football on Fox network channels which affected local channels in 17 markets across 23 states. 

Nevertheless, this dispute between DISH Network and FOX has finally come to an end when DISH Network Corporation reportedly announced an agreement with Fox Corporation for its operated and owned local stations including BTN, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, and Fox Soccer Plus. The deal was announced ahead of NFL Sunday Football.

According to reports, satellite and streaming services failed to ink an agreement with Fox Corp. which led millions of Dish Network and Sling subscribers to lose access to Fox's local channels.

Sources cite that Fox owned TV channels along with FS1, FS2, BTN, Fox Soccer Plus, and Fox Deportes, were affected by the dispute in 17 markets. Because of this, millions of viewers were not able to enjoy one Sunday and two Thursday of Fox’s NFL games, along with soccer and college football matches.

Speaking on the dispute, Dish Networks said that the company appreciates its customers’ patience as it had worked to reach a long-term agreement that restores local broadcast as well as Fox Network Channel.

Meanwhile, a Fox Corporation spokesperson said that the company has reached an agreement with Dish and Sling, and they are immediately restoring the access of Fox networks and television stations. Fox is grateful to viewers for their patience during this disruption.

Reportedly, Dish has been into headlines for numerous disputes lately. Apart from being a pure satellite operator, the company has been working to become a wireless purveyor, hoarding spectrum and rolling deal to acquire assets in the T-Mobile-Sprint merger.
