DIEZ Authority increases the network of internal roads in DSO

The Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, also known as DIEZ, has declared the completion of a project to create an internal roadways network system in the Dubai Silicon Oasis or DSO and connect it to some of the critical roads that surround the major technology park.

The refurbishment, which costs $13.6 million (AED 50 million), is one of the many ongoing development initiatives that DSO has launched to serve the requirements of citizens and offer the most supportive environment for all its members.

In collaboration with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the project connects the Dubai-Al Ain Road with the internal road system of DSO for about 2.4 kms.  It even increases the road that leads to the intersection to five lanes and includes service roads and pedestrian walkways on each side of the street to facilitate an easier access to DSO and the nearby residential and commercial areas.

DIEZ is also improving its infrastructure by incorporating more green places with clever sustainable technologies, upgrading, and expanding internal roadways, decreasing the distance between connected areas, opening new lanes, and minimizing the commute time.

These initiatives are in line with Dubai's objective of creating smart, and innovative cities and a seamless environment for people to work and live in.

Muammar Al Katheeri, Chief Engineering & Smart City Officer at DIEZ stated that the completion of the project to develop and expand internal routes and connect them to the main Dubai-Al Ain Road, which serves over 1.5 million commuters, was aligned with DIEZ's efforts to enhance DSO's road infrastructure to reduce traffic congestion and allow citizens to travel easily.

As a part of the DIEZ, DSO works as a technology hub and free zone for big businesses, startups, and small- and medium-sized organizations looking to establish their presence in Dubai. The DSO community has grown at a significant pace since it was founded in 2005. It now comprises a population of over 90,000.
