Baby nutrition firm ByHeart nabs $90Mn in Series B funding round

ByHeart, a fully integrated infant nutrition company, has reportedly secured $90 million in Series B funding which the company plans to use for the launch of its baby formula and support the development of its pipeline of nutrition items for children and mothers.

Reports claim that the investment comes after ByHeart successfully completed the clinical trial for its new formula while satisfying all the necessary endpoints. This was essentially the last step before the firm could submit its formula for FDA clearance.

For the uninitiated, the investment round was led by D1 Capital Partners, with Polaris Partners, OCV Partners, Red Sea Ventures, Bellco Capital, and Two River, and new investors Gaingels and AF Ventures, all of which had previously invested in ByHeart's Series A round.

Ron Belldegrun, who co-founded the company with Mia Funt, said that “five years ago they established ByHeart to revolutionize newborn nutrition with products and tools based on groundbreaking nutrition science and breast milk research”.

“When they discovered that much of the business was still relying on current research rather than performing new, more complete clinical trials, they recognized that true innovation would entail starting from scratch and developing from the ground up”.

ByHeart is headquartered in New York City and produces its products in Pennsylvania. Last month, the organization launched Cluster, a digital platform with tools and information to aid parents in their feeding decisions from pregnancy through toddlerhood.

Founders of ByHeart are motivated by the notion that parents need a partner who will provide them with no-compromise goods and parent-centric resources to be comfortable with how they feed their children.

The recent investment reflects ByHeart's significant efforts over the last five years since its founders set out to redefine the options around feeding and nutrition.
